How Good are Tissues
Oil and enamel on canvas

How Good are Tissues is a painting of a colleagues box of tissues.  The object fittingly evoked eye-watering bemusement and sadness.
Tissues for Tokenism
Recycled handmade cardboard, oil and enamel paint on ply

Tissues for Tokenism comprises of eight pieces of handmade paper, cut and painted to loosely resemble tissues.  They have been mounted on ply to allude to a trophy plaque or large cheque prize.  I imagine the tissue trophy to be awarded publicly by people in power- to distract from inaction and lack of policy (climate change in particular) in a sanctimonious display of concern.  The tissues are unusable semblances of objects designed to dry tears- retrospective, as opposed to preventative.

I respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land. Melbourne has always been a significant gathering place for the groups of the Kulin Nation, and I acknowledge and respect their continuing connection with the land
